If you've been searching for a way to shed unwanted pounds and improve your overall health or if you’re struggling to find the best way to get to your ideal weight and stay healthy especially for the upcoming holidays, intermittent fasting (IF) could be the solution you've been looking for.
This approach to eating and lifestyle has been gaining popularity for its ability to help people not only achieve their ideal weight but also maintain a healthy lifestyle. With the right guidance and determination, intermittent fasting could be the game-changer you need to reach your goals and stay healthy for years to come.

The first step in utilizing intermittent fasting (IF) is finding the fasting style that best fits your lifestyle and preferences. There are several methods to choose from, including the 16:8 method (16 hours of fasting, zero foods, zero calories, zero sugar of any type - then 8 hours of eating), the 12:12 method (12 hours of fasting then 12 hours of having normal meals) or one meal a day. The 12:12 is my favorite because I can do it daily since it works best for my lifestyle and work schedules.
To best control the weight, it is effective to eat fewer calories during the eating time than the burned calorie in any given day.
Experiment with different fasting styles to find the one that best suits your lifestyle, schedule, and eating habits.

Second, staying hydrated during your fasting hours is crucial, and it's important to choose the right drinks with zero sugar and calorie.
Filtered, spring, and alkaline water are always the best drink choices, but high-quality herbal tea blend can help curb hunger even better. Black coffee or green tea can also help but keep in mind that those drinks might cause dizziness for some people because of the heavy caffeine content. It does for me so I often only have water and herbal teas during my fasting windows.
Pick your favorite drinks and have them throughout the fasting window to help you stay hydrated while providing you the energy boost effectively.

Third, transitioning out of your fasting period requires prioritizing nutrient-dense meals. Nutritional value of the foods you take into your body should be the top priority during your eating window. Whole, unprocessed foods like lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats such as avocado, wild salmon not only provide essential nutrients but also help keep you feeling full and satisfied, making it easier to resist unhealthy temptations that will ruin all of your fasting efforts.

Fourth, Incorporating simple exercises into your daily routine can significantly help you reach your fitness and weight goals. Whether at home or in the office, easy exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, aerobic step jumps, jumping jacks, get on your elliptical (if you have one) or taking a brisk walk for at least 30 - 45 minutes daily can greatly boost your metabolism, keep your bones strong, and promote fat loss.
These simple exercises are key during intermittent fasting to achieving and maintaining your ideal weight, so pick your favorite exercise(s)/move(s) and stick with those exercise moves daily. I just exercise this way without needing a gym membership.

Lastly, consistency is essential for long-term success with intermittent fasting. It’s very important not to over-eat during your eating window. The number of calories and the foods quality you’re taking in during the eating hours greatly count so that it’s not counterproductive to the efforts you make during your fasting window. So stay away from high-calorie and less nutrient-dense foods and drinks.

Sticking to your fasting schedule, ideally daily, making mindful nutritious food choices, and prioritizing regular physical activity are super crucial for sustainable weight and health results. Building or joining a supportive community or finding an accountability IF partner can also help keep you on track and motivated.
